CAN you believe it's time for another monthly post? 2018 seems to be flying by, which is slightly daunting since I have so many uni deadlines. This month's Top 5 was quite tough to narrow down, as all 16 songs on the playlist are (in my opinion) absolute bangers. It was not easy not including Lauv's Chasing Fire in there but I do feel like I feature him very frequently! I also did not put any Janelle Monáe because if I did, then it would be her whole entire new album, Dirty Computer. Please check it out if you haven't already.

Now without any further ado, here are March's Top 5:

5. Always - GAVIN JAMES
I've been following Gavin James for around a year or two now and this is probably his best single yet.  It's great to follow an artist through their growth both musically and successfully. If you haven't yet heard his music, I really recommend you do. Also, his live shows are not to be missed.

4. From Fire - PERTA
I had never heard of this LA-based pop-funk band up until this song showed up on my Discover Weekly playlist. Upon a quick search, From Fire is actually their only single up on Spotify. Its funk bass lines and vocals are what grasped my attention. There's a great interview Paper Mag has of Perta, and you can check it out here.

3. Serious - ADY SULEIMAN
I discovered Ady Suleiman upon a friend's recommendation and I have never enjoyed a recommendation so much. Suleiman's neo-soul sound and stunning vocals are not to be missed. I highly suggest listening to all his previous EPs, as well as his debut album, from where this song features. Check out this fantastic live session of Serious:

2. Love Song - ZAK ABEL
Zak Abel's debut album, Only When We're Naked is one of those records that I just have to listen to frequently. I love his sound and have become an even bigger fan ever since Love Song was released. As soon as I heard that guitar funk I thought of Nile Rodgers, so I was very pleased to find out that Nile Rodgers actually performs on this song. Zak is definitely one to watch out for in 2018.

1. No Roots - ALICE MERTON
This song has actually been out a while but only now is it gaining success. It's on BBC Radio 2's playlist and on mine, too. It's probably my most played song in April and hopefully you will understand why when you listen to it:

As always, check out some of the songs that did not make the cut:
Chasing Fire - LAUV
Call Out My Name - THE WEEKND

Until next month!

N.B. Unless you're viewing the link in April 2018, the songs will have by now changed from the ones mentioned in this post. However, the Top 5 featured above will be compiled in one playlist, marking my favourite songs of 2018.
