A LOOK BACK ON 2017

Sunday, 31 December 2017

I don't know if a post like this would interest anyone, but I like to write it anyway for myself. At this time of year, I enjoy looking back at my own reflections from past years. It's nice to know how far you've come in your life and how much has changed. Of course, reading on past reflections can sometimes not be the healthiest option. Life isn't always as productive or giving. However, luckily for me, 2017 is a year I look back on with a huge smile on my face, and this is why.

MUSIC BLOG: DECEMBER FAOURITES (2017)

Friday, 29 December 2017

HERE we are with the final favourites post for 2017. In hindshight, this year has been a better year musically than the previous one. At least, in my opinion, anyway. I only have 10 songs in my Decemver Favourists playlist, but they are good ones. Some songs that did not make the cut are She Don't Know Me by Mullally and JP Cooper's She On My Mind. But here are the Top 5.

MUSIC BLOG: NOVEMBER FAVOURITES (2017)

Sunday, 10 December 2017

THE last few months of the year are always the trickiest when it comes to new music. New releases seem to decrease in number at this time of year and more remixes emerge. Nevertheless, I managed to compile some new and older releases this month. Here are some of what I enjoyed.

MUSIC BLOG: OCTOBER FAVOURITES (2017)

Monday, 6 November 2017

HERE we are with another edition of Monthly Favourites. This month I have 19 fantastic songs that feature on the playlist. Overall, it was a good month. The list includes music from Paloma Faith, Gabrielle Ablin and newcomer Grace Vanderwaal. Check out my top 5 below.

MUSIC BLOG: SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES (2017)

Monday, 2 October 2017

SEPTEMBER has been a much more settled month. I moved into a new place and I travelled home. I also managed to discover some brilliant artists along with re-discovering others, like Scouting For Girls. You can check out the full playlist on Spotify, but here are my Top 5

MUSIC BLOG: AUGUST FAVOURITES (2017)

Saturday, 2 September 2017

THIS probably been the craziest summer ever. With moving, changing jobs and sofa surfing, I haven't been consuming as much music. However, eight songs have sparked my interest nonetheless. The fun Charli XCX song, Boys and the former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello both make an appearance, but they don't make the final cut. Check the Top 5 below: -

MUSIC BLOG: JULY FAVOURITES (2017)

Wednesday, 2 August 2017

HERE we are again with another monthly favourite posts! This month a lot has been going on, but that did not stop me from discovering some fantastic music. Once again, July had me discover some newer artists and to no surprise, LANY make another appearance (or two). Here are my Top 5 for July.

MUSIC BLOG - JUNE FAVOURITES (2017)

Sunday, 2 July 2017

MUCH like May, this month's playlist also features only 10 songs. 90% of the songs that feature in this month's playlist are from newer artists, except for Two Door Cinema Club, whose Sun, I found being played a lot in June. Unfortunately, it did not make the Top 5. Here are the ones that did:

MUSIC BLOG: MAY FAVOURITES (2017)

Friday, 2 June 2017

THIS month's playlist may only feature 10 songs, but they are all fantastic entries. In fact, I had a tough time narrowing it down to only five songs. Therefore, without any further ado, here are my Top 5 in no particular order -

MUSIC BLOG: LIVERPOOL SOUND CITY FESTIVAL 2017 - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Thursday, 18 May 2017

Author's Note: This post is brought to you by BIMM London. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

NEXT week I will be travelling to Liverpool to do some press at the Liverpool Sound City Festival.  BIMM London is sending six Music Journalism students to work the four-day festival. This year they are celebrating their tenth year with a fantastic lineup that includes headliners The Kooks, Metronomy, The Human League and John Cale. Before I get into it, here's a playlist I made with some of the best tunes by this year's acts!

MUSIC BLOG: APRIL FAVOURITES (2017)

Tuesday, 2 May 2017

APRIL produced some fantastic songs. This playlist includes 26 bangers. In fact, it was tough to bring it down to only five. Some artists whose songs did not make the cut are JP Cooper, Lady Gaga, and one of my personal favourite musicians, John Mayer. The top 5 feature both new and established artists - including two members of One Direction.

VISITING ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS

Thursday, 13 April 2017

A few weeks ago, on February 22nd to be exact, I got the golden opportunity to visit the legendary Abbey Road Studios. My University chose a few of us to spend an afternoon exploring the Studios and seeing it at work. This is everything that I took from it.

MUSIC BLOG: MARCH FAVOURITES (2017)

Friday, 7 April 2017

MARCH has proven to be a fantastic month for music. So far, it’s my biggest playlist with 29 songs you should definitely check out. It includes established artists such as Ed Sheeran and completely new artists like BIMM’s Andrea Di Giovanni. It was tough to choose five to feature in the post. I made sure they don’t feature any artists I featured last month. Here we go…

MUSIC BLOG: FEBRUARY FAVOURITES (2017)

Friday, 3 March 2017

music, favourites, blog, lany, raye, amber run, matt wills

SO far, 2017 has been rather good when it comes to new music. We've had Katy Perry's comeback with Chained To The Rhythm and Ed Sheeran's Divide album which dropped today! It's all been good thus far. My February Favourites playlist isn't exactly full of new releases. Some I discovered and others I went back to. Here are my Top 5, in no particular order!

PERSONAL: HOW ONE GIG PUT EVERYTHING INTO PERSPECTIVE

Saturday, 18 February 2017

LAST night I had the opportunity to attend Gabrielle Aplin's gig at The Jazz Cafe. I basically hit two birds with one stone - finally watching an artist I've looked up to for years, and experiencing music at this historic venue. However, despite having attended quite a few gigs, the emotions I experienced last evening were foreign. Gabrielle Aplin's gig helped me reassess my situation and was inspiring on a new level - this post is going to quickly explain how.

MUSIC BLOG: JANUARY FAVOURITES (2017)

Saturday, 11 February 2017

GOOD news - Monthly Music Blog is back and this time for good! After some time off,  I managed to plan out a lot for this blog, and one is the return of this tiny series which I love. Despite the fact that I'll be publishing a new blog just about music, I thought I'd leave this for Fearless Heaven just because it's more personal.

Anyway, let's cut to the chase. I've put together a playlist on Spotify with 25 songs I enjoyed listening to in January. This post will feature (in no particular order) five of those songs in a bit more detail. It was so tough to choose only five but take a look below.
